Instructor
Ken A.
Kenny Alicea is a Certified USCCA Instructor and former U.S. Army Special Forces Weapons Sergeant (Green Beret) with over two decades of operational and instructional experience. Throughout five combat deployments, each ranging from eight to fifteen months, he served in direct action and combat operations across multiple theaters.
Following his military service, Kenny spent more than a decade working overseas in non-permissive and combat environments under the U.S. Department of State’s Worldwide Protective Services (WPS) program. He trained and led Protective Security Specialists, served as an Integrations and Training Instructor (ITI), and played a vital role in the OMDAC-SWACA program training Afghan Special Police forces. His experience also includes global protective assignments supporting U.S. government and partner agencies as part of the Global Response Staff (GRS).
At Drop Shock Training Group, Kenny brings the same disciplined, real-world approach he applied in combat to the civilian training environment. His instruction emphasizes confidence under pressure, marksmanship precision, situational awareness, and responsible firearm ownership.
Certified Courses Offered:
- Concealed Carry & Home Defense
- Marksmanship Simplified: Foundations of Handgun Coaching
- Emergency & First Aid for Gunshot Wounds
- Women’s Handgun & Self-Defense
- Countering the Mass Shooter Threat

Kenny’s training philosophy is simple: firearms proficiency isn’t a hobby, it’s a life-saving skill. “You are your own first responder. So, train as if you and your family’s life depend on it, because someday it may.”
Every course he teaches reflects that belief.

Instructor
Chris W.
Chris W. is a 28-year U.S. Army Combat Arms veteran who rose through the ranks from Private to Field Grade Officer. Throughout his distinguished career, Chris served in elite units such as the 82nd Airborne Division and the 1st Cavalry Division, completing five combat deployments in support of the Global War on Terrorism. His leadership experience spans tactical through strategic levels, where he trained Soldiers in offensive and defensive operations — including firearms employment in dynamic environments, convoy security, CQB/room clearing, and reaction-to-contact drills.
Following retirement, Chris leveraged his extensive combat experience and firearms expertise to train and educate the next generation of defenders. He currently serves as a gunsmithing instructor at Piedmont Technical College’s School of Classical Gunsmithing in Greenwood, South Carolina. Additionally, Chris is an instructor with the One Shepherd Leadership Institute, where he teaches small-unit tactics and leadership fundamentals at both the squad and platoon levels.
Since 2008, Chris has dedicated himself to preparing both civilians and military personnel for real-world threats through comprehensive defensive firearms training. His instruction emphasizes not only technical proficiency but also the development of a “Warrior Mindset” — empowering students to remain calm, decisive, and capable under extreme pressure.
Chris’ training philosophy is simple yet profound: master the fundamentals, and master them through repetition. He believes true skill is forged through hands-on practice, discipline, and an understanding of the psychological aspects of combat and survival.
Recognizing that evil exists in the world, Chris’s mission is to train men and women to be capable, resilient, and courageous — ready to defend themselves and their loved ones when it matters most. His goal is to help each student embody his core principle:
“Be Hard to Kill.”
